PREREQUISITE: Beginning Woodworking & completion of students' Beginning Woodworking project.
GRADE LEVEL: 10 - 12
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this class is to allow the student an opportunity to construct a more advancedproject, to continue the development of the skills exposed to in Beginning Woodworking, and to learn more advanced skills.Actual time spent in the construction of a major piece of furniture will be determined by the student based upon how rapidlythey select an approved project, determine the costs involved, and the successful completion of a safety review. Expectedtime is 34 weeks of hands on experiences in the shop.
This course contains State of Iowa mandated competencies of instruction.
GRADING PROCEDURE: Grades for the first two quarters and the first semester will be based on daily points earned.The points will be earned based on attitude, cooperation, and usage of class time. Grades, for the last two quarters andsecond semester will be determined by daily points earned and points earned for the completed project. As in Beginning Woods, successful completion of the project is very vital.
